Civil Wedding Vows

Would you use the same vows from your wedding for your renewal of vows?

I think I have the most romantic wedding vows ever. I was thinking about incorporating some of those words from our wedding, into our renewal of vows. Or Should I just go with something more fun,and humorous? I don't know what to do. So Ladies give me your suggestions or ideas. What would you do?

  1. I would think a vow renewal would use the same vows as your wedding day.
  2. Incorporate some of the old vows, sure, but change it up - you are not starting a life, your are renewing your commitment to continue that life.
  3. I think it would depend on the mood and setting. It's a reflection on your lives together, would be nice to have some humor, but also some heart-felt comments. It's just for the two of you, so make it genuine. You don't need to impress anyone else.
  4. If you like your original vows and feel like they still apply, then use them! Congratulations!
  5. i think you should do something sweet. incorporate the last few years of your marriage in how you've changed having him in your life, how you're a better person with him in it, how he completes you, how you now know what true love it, etc. etc... you can always add a little bit a humor to this as well, but i'd take something from the heart.... using the same vows.... thats just too easy and there isn't a point in renewing them, if you're going to be saying the same stuff. even though i'm sure he will not remember what was said the first time around, you will..... :-) good luck, and congrats on making it to the alter the 2nd time around! (With the same guy!!) haha.
  6. If you LOVE your originals, by all means, use them! You might want to modify a tad to add the bit of fun. "Love, honor and wash the car..." ;) j/k Congratulations on your anniversary!
  7. You could, if it feels right. That would be really sweet if the vows were personalized. But, when two people do a vow renewal, it is amazing how far they've come. Usually- they've faced some bad times and good, fought some battles (including each other) they've grown, learned, loved, laughed, cried and laughed until they've cried. It would seem after all this, that you may want to write new vows that fit the place you are in now and would be a fresh start and great acknowledgment for the rest of your path together and how far you've come. It's a wonderful time to let him/her know how incredibly much they mean to you. After all, your views on life and love have probably changed some right? Not seeing the world through those rose-colored glasses anymore, but rather seeing the one you love for who they really are and vis-versa....the fact that you love each other even more for it is something to acknowledge and celebrate. Congratulations to you, this is such a sweet time in your life. Enjoy it= )
  8. I would use my original vows, yet throw something fun and new into it as well. Renewals are meant to be a little more laid back and fun time of celebration. Congratulations on many more years to come!
