I want to suprise my parents with a vow renewal. How would I get my mom to try on wedding gowns w/out knowing?
My sisters & I are trying to surprise our parents with a wedding vow renewal and need a way to somehow get our mom to try on wedding gowns without her becoming suspicious.

- This is ridiculous. Sorry, but it is. I would never put anyone on the spot like that. You might totally embarass them in front of everyone. If they want to renew their vows, they'll do it on their own, their way. What you're doing is weird.
- Just go shopping with her. But tell the bridal store ahead of time. And then just say hey lets try on dresses just for the fun of it. It will work.
- Maybe you can tell them you are planning a vow renewal for one of you instead? Very sweet of you and your sisters. They will love and appeciate the effort you put into it.
- A surprise anniversary party is one thing but a renewal is a little much for a surprise.
- I have to agree with those who think this is a bad idea. A suprise party is great. But a vow renewal can go either way. Wedding vows are very personal and between two people. It should be their own idea. If they have both expressed an interest in doing this, then it's great. Otherwise, don't do it.
- Its not a bad idea, its a great one. my sister and I did this for our mom. We printed out an invitation to an "all white" black tie affair and told her one of our friends invited us from work and her ticket was already purchased. So we went shopping together. (told the store consultant in private that it was a surprise) She tried on dresses (so the consultant had her size) and when we saw wedding like dresses we'd pass by it and say mom isnt this nice.. Then when we went to pick up the dress it was a fancier one than she had picked, but we told her they ordered the wrong dress and it would be to late to get a new one. So the day of we get all dressed up for our make believe ballroom party.. we drive to the church and say we have to stop here to pick up someone.. then we walk in and say surprise. it was gorgeous! It was work. But it was worth it. All the Best of Luck!!!
- Why does she need a wedding gown? Why not take her dress shopping and tell her that you'd like to take them out for a nice dinner and you want her to buy a new dress for the occasion? We surprised my parents with a vowel renewal during our wedding ceremony. My mom decided to wear a black velvet gown with spaghetti straps as the mother of the bride dress. She looked stunning. It didn't matter the color of the dress. It mattered more that she was there with my dad!
- Hi. That is really sweet of you, but I think you should just surprise them with an anniversary party. Is this a milestone anniversary? 25th? Most couples that renew their vows don't wear a wedding dress. They may wear a fancy dress, but it wouldn't be an actual wedding dress. And, many couples do not want to be put on the spot by renewing their vows. To many, this is private. So, I would nix the dress idea totally. Just concentrate on a fabulous party!!
