Does anyone know of a good reference, book, or website for wedding planning?
I'm in the very early stages of planning our wedding but I have no idea where to even start. Does anyone know of a good reference, book, or website? Any thoughts? Thanks!

- theweddingchannel.com, the knot.com and also go to a davids bridal they have a wedding reference book i used it, it holds your receipt's, tells u what to do next and gives you the proper etiquette. the two websites i used also and the are really good they even let your guest look to see what kinds of gifts to get you guys! good luck with everything!
- theknot.com has a very detailed check list of things to do and timelines when they should be done-very helpful
- Borders has TONS of books and kits that you can buy that help a LOT. I bought the Ultimate Wedding Workbook and Planning Guide Lit. It comes in a box and has slots for everything you need. There are file folders to keep pamphlets and information for every vendor you need and whatever all in one place. It is actually pretty cool. Plus it has coupons at the back of the big book for a few places and a free website offer for your wedding! Good luck!
- http://www.weddingwire.com matches you up with vendors based on your preferences, and helps you organize everything. It's amazing!
- theknot.com is a great place to start. I would even look into hiring an event planning professional. An initial consult will show you everything that they can provide you and help propose some ideas for you. Even if you don't decide to use them....you still have the ideas and a start at an outline
- I liked the book "The One Stop Wedding Kit" for general planning. It had a really helpful checklist in the front, and then useful tips for the rest of the planning.
- Confetti.co.uk, they have everything you will ever need!
- Get yourself this book called "Bridal bargains." It is a book that is edited annually, and has real, honest opinions on everything wedding industry. For me, what I found the most helpful was the gown designer section: the authors actually include a price range that each designer comes in, and a critique of their fashion styles and quality of the products, and gives them a rating as far as customer service and quality of the gowns. The book is only $13 or so, and it is a total godsend.
- theknot.com is a really great website, but there are a LOT of really great websites out there. The thing that helped me the most was going to bridal shows in my area and organizing all the information in a big binder. Then I knew that all my stuff came from local vendors!! I also found it helpful to join an online community of people who were also planning weddings at the time (none of my friends are married and I'm the oldest, so I've never had any kind of experience with it) - usually you'll find them at wedding websites or on journal websites like livejournal or opendiary. Good luck!!
- Martha Stewart has some good ideas, and she sells things retail too. Miss Manners is good for rules.
