After a civil ceremony, how do you renew your vows?
Blah, I don't know much about this. I'm planning on having a civil ceremony at the courthouse, just to get it over with. Eventually we want to have a "real" wedding, either in the States or in the Philippines. How would I go about doing that? What should I know? Do I have to get another marriage license, especially in the Philippines? What is the process? Sorry, I'm a noob at this, lol.

- First - just what do you consider a REAL wedding? Gowns for show and expense and reception? Isn't the actual ceremony the REAL wedding - the rest is just a party/reception and you can have that party anytime you want. But if you want to go through the motions again and and you will be traveling out of country to do this you would have to check with the hotel where you will be staying. There are some all inclusive resorts (Super Clubs in the Caribbean for one) that will do the whole wedding for free - then sell you a picture package for around $200 - peanuts compared to home. You have to have all your documents etc. before hand - they may not do this for renewals so check first. Once you are married your minister can perform a religious ceremony if that is your wish - the expense would be the same the documents would be the only thing that wouldn't need to be repeated.
- Hi Brandy: Why the rush "to get it over with." Sounds like you are going in for foot surgery instead of getting married. Your civil wedding IS a "REAL" wedding. If you want the do-over later....well, go ahead. You don't need any legal paperwork....because you are already legally married. It's a renewal of vows....or a anniversary celebration....not a wedding.
