Wedding Ceremony??? So my boyfriend and I are not religious and were planning on having a Justice of the Peace preform our wedding ceremony. However, a friend from work is an ordained minister and willing to do our ceremony. Does anyone know how this works. Does she have to preform a traditional religious ceremony or is she allowed to preform a more secular ceremony? P.S. She knows that we are not religious. We are having a traditional-like ceremony. We have a beatiful location booked and 100 guests will be invited to attend. So it will be somewhat traditional, just minus the religious content. We have nothing against spiritual ceremonies, but it is not really us. I just find it difficult to ask a minister to exclude religious content from the wedding ceremony. And were she is a friend I do not want to offend her in any way. I am afraid that taking God out of the ceremony will seem like I disrespect her beliefs. Do you think that this will be disrespectful.
Wedding ceremony? I am preforming a wedding in a month, the couple wants to do the "Cord of three strands" ceremony. Has anyone done this, where did you get the cords and ring. Did you make them? How? Did you buy it? Where? I know it is not my responsibility. However, I want to help them out. They are as clueless as I am of where to find this item.
Wedding~Ceremony? I am getting married April 5th. We spoke with the pastor and he gave some ideas of a wedding ceremony. Honestly I dont like them much and he said if I wanted I could find some ideas and let him know. I have looked but I guess I'm not finding what I want. Does anyone have any ideas of other websites to find these. Please and thank you Im not quite sure of the wording....I have never been to a wedding I havent a clue really what i'm doing. I suppose a simple something the preist can say. Yes we are having our ceremony in an open field at a friends ranch, weather permitting!
How to have a wedding ceremony after being joined in a courtroom? I have read that if you get married in a court room, that it would be considered your wedding, and any ceremony after that would be considered renewing your vows. Is this true? If it is, then would we technically have to get divorced and re-married in order to have a real wedding ceremony? Or would that still not count? We just want to have a ceremony that means something to the both of us, and our families. Thank you for your help and answers
How to do a wedding ceremony with papers done already? I already got a marriage commissioner to do a simple private ceremony and the paper work before. Now, Me and my wife is planning to do a real wedding ceremony to invite our friends and families. I wonder how I should do it? Is it possible to skip the papers? I dont want the guest to know about it.
Ever played violin for a wedding ceremony? Hi! I've been asked to play violin for a wedding ceremony (I live in Pa) though I play very well I have never done a wedding. I'm wondering how much I should charge? Also how do I know how to get the timing of the music down so it ends at the right moment after they come down the isle when there's no way to know until the rehearsal itself. I'd appreciate any advice from someone who's performed for wedding on how to go about things. Thanks so much!
What is the appropriate timing for a wedding ceremony? I'm planning my wedding and not sure what time and how long I need to book the ceremony location for. We are having an outdoor non-religious ceremony so it should be reasonably quick, around 30 minutes. How long do we need to leave for photos between the ceremony and the reception? Also, what should guests do after the ceremony but before the reception officially starts?
What is a good wedding reception invitation headline for a reception days after the wedding ceremony? My fiance and I are planning to have a courthouse wedding ceremony this May with close family and friends. Then a few days later we are planning to have a huge wedding reception for everyone to come and celebrate our union. The problem is, I don't know that "correct" words or phrase to use on the wedding reception invitations without sounding offensive to those who may have not been invited to the ceremony. So, what is a good way to word my wedding reception invitations?
Where can I download a video for wedding ceremony? I'm planning to give a lecture on weddings in different cultures. Now I need to download a video for West wedding ceremony. I'll present it to my students and let them compare the different steps in different wedding ceremonies.
Can I do the wedding ceremony first, then get the marriage license? Due to academic financial aid reasons, my fiance and i were thinking about having our wedding ceremony first, and then get the marriage license. I know that our wedding technically wouldn't be a wedding, and we wouldn't really be married, but that's not an issue. Also, neither of us is religious so we would get a non-denomination officiator to do it. So is this possible?
How to invite guests to wedding ceremony, but not the reception? My fiance and I would love to invite all of our friends to our wedding and reception, however, financially we just can't do it. The ceremony is free and we want to make it public, however our reception will be for family and close friends only. What is the proper way to invite guests to ceremony and not the reception? (Did I mention both the ceremony and the reception is in the same venue.)
Can the Photographer use a flash during the wedding ceremony? My fiance and I disagree on this. He thinks the wedding photographer SHOULD be able to use his flash during the wedding ceremony while I think it is tacky and rude. We dont have much time to recreate the ceremony after its over b/c we have very limited time at reception (morning wedding/ afternoon lunch @ Maggianos.. have to be out by 4pm sharp) What is proper etiquette?
Where is a good place to hold a small wedding ceremony? My fiance and I are planning on having a small wedding ceremony for immediate family only (about 10 people) followed by a reception in Dallas where we live and another reception in Virginia where my family is from. What kind of places should we look for to hold the ceremony? We cannot use anything religious because my finace's family is Muslim while mine is Christian, so we need to avoid religion altogether.
Middle Georgia wedding ceremony and reception venue? If I divvy up my wedding budget I'm allotted $500 for my reception and ceremony location fee. Any ideas? I'm planning on having about 75ppl present (including wedding party). I live in middle ga. I would like to have my ceremony and reception at the same venue. I'd like to get married somewhere other than a church, my dad is an ordained minister and we are going to get him to officiate the wedding. Thanks, I'm open to all suggestions!
What are some options for music during a wedding ceremony? We have to provide our own music for our wedding ceremony and i don't think I want someone playing the organ or piano...what are some other options? How to personalize a justice of the peace wedding ceremony? my fiance and I are having our wedding at a botanical garden with a justice of the peace officiant. However, I want the ceremony to last more than 5 minutes - what elements could I add in to make it more personal? (We are meeting with her next week, but I would like to have something to start with!) Thank you!
Can a non clergy perform our wedding ceremony after having the civil marriage? We have obtained our marriage license and will be married in a civil ceremony at City Hall. The week after that we are celebrating by having a second ceremony and inviting friends and family. I was wondering if since we will already be officially be married do we still need to hire a wedding officiant of the clergy to perform the second wedding ceremony or can anyone do it?
What are some good songs to play during a wedding ceremony? I am getting married next May and need some songs (christian would be great) for the ceremony. Instead of playing the wedding march, my brother is going to play the guitar while my cousin sings but I need a beautiful song. Just needing some ideas for that and the dance afterward. All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

How can I keep from crying during my wedding ceremony? I am so excited for my wedding. I'm not the most mushy person and I was never raised to really show my feelings. I am worried that I'm going to cry happy tears during my wedding ceremony. How can I keep the waterworks from happening?
What kind of decor do you do for an indoor wedding ceremony? ---I'm not getting married in a church either, it's an old church that was turned into a night club. I want simple but chic not cheap. So no balloons or anything like that. ---And our wedding colors are dark red and dark purple, and the only flowers we are doing are roses, but I was hoping to not have to buy extra just for the ceremony.
Formal wedding ceremony and the level of happiness within the marriage? Do you think having a formal wedding ceremony (religious or non religious) vs. court marriage makes a difference in the level of happiness and satisfaction within the marriage? From your own opinions and what you've seen, do people who get formally married have longer marriages? Do people who have court marriages tend to have higher divorce rates? Does going on a honeymoon make a difference too?
Who should do the Readings at the Wedding Ceremony and Toasts at the Reception? I am getting married in May and my fiance and I have picked two poems we want read at our wedding. We just don't have any idea of who should read them. Who usually does the readings during a ceremony? Don't say the brides mom should do one because my mom wont be attending. And also who does the toasts during the reception?
What is a good way to incorporate my son into my wedding ceremony? I have a 4 year old son, well, he will be 5 when the wedding gets here. I am planning on marrying my boyfriend of 2 years (who has been just the absolute best father figure a child could possibly need!) next year and would like a special way to incorporate my son into our ceremony. I am already planning to have our clergyman bless us as a family, but I would like to do something more. Any ideas? The more unique, the better! Thanks!
Best locations for a wedding ceremony in or close to Paris, France? My fiance and I are legally going to get married in the US but then have our ceremony in Paris, France. Where are the best locations for the ceremony? Also how do I go about getting reservations in the Effeil Tower Resturant? We want to have our wedding dinner there. BTW only about 10 people counting my fiance and I, are coming if that matters.
What is a good exit song for a wedding ceremony? My fiance & I are getting married in May and we are having a harpist play. What is a good song to be played on the harp as we exit after the ceremony? I do not like the Wedding March at all so I am looking for something else. Any ideas? We are either doing Canon D or Trumpet Voluntary for the processional and probably the "here comes the bride" music for me, so I need an idea for the exit music. Thanks!
What happens at a wedding ceremony (with a registrar, not a church)? I want find out the normal protocol for the happenings at a wedding ceremony. From when the bridesmaids enter, and if they stay standing, does the Father of the Bride sit down straight after 'giving the bride to the groom. I'm so not sure on a few details. Thanks to anyone who can help :)
Where should I have my wedding ceremony and reception? I am getting married in October of 09. I would like a 6:00PM outside wedding with a reception to follow. I need a reception hall that can hold at least 250 people. I had a few places that I was looking at but they are not going to work. The locations for the ceremony and reception need to be close to Cedar Rapids IA and Albany IL. If you have any ideas please let me know.
Any suggestions for Christian music to be played during a wedding ceremony? I am agnostic. Next year I am marrying a man who is Christian and comes from a very Christian family. This situation has been discussed openly with both my fiance and his family, and their attitude is one of acceptance of my viewpoint, even though I know they would like me to one day convert to Christianity. Anyway, I am completely unfamiliar with Christian music, but as a nod to my fiance's family, I would like some non-secular music to be playing during the wedding ceremony. Can anyone help me out with suggestions? The rest of the ceremony will be interspersed with secular classical music.
Does anyone know a unique place to get married and have a wedding ceremony in Detroit area? I don't really want an outdoor ceremony/reception but not completely against it. I have no problems with hall weddings either but I prefer not to have a hall reception either. Also I really like historic sites. I know I've really limited myself but I know there is some place out there that will be amazing to me..I just need some help finding it. We are planning a late summer/fall wedding.
How can I spruce up my wedding ceremony? I have nothing but vows for my ceremony! HELP! I need something to add meaning to it. I don't like any of the unity rituals...they're kind of over-used and cheesy to me. I Don't know any singers either. Any suggestions will help! One more thing. Has anyone ever heard of the maid of honor and best man doing a reading for the wedding together? Like maybe a poem to be recited by two people. THANKS!
Where to hold a wedding ceremony in Duabi? Which hotels could anyone recommend to holda wedding ceremony for a small group of people, without spending the earth? With a restaurant etc? Preferably near the ski centre!
What's the best way to include a child in a wedding ceremony? Anyone have any advice on including a kid in a wedding ceremony? I'm getting married in about 3 weeks, and we have everything lined up, except we'd like to include my 4-year-old son in the wedding in some meaningful way. He loves my fiance, they spend tons of time together and he's already trying out calling him Dad. He's helped with the shopping and wedding planning and is crazy about "all of us" getting married into our new family. So what's the best way to include him in the vows or some other part? Anyone have experience with this? There's no biological father in the picture or other kids to consider, so it's not the exact same thing as blended-family weddings, which I've seen a little advice on. Also, does anyone know of rings for kids for such an occasion? I saw Family Medallions but he doesn't like necklaces and wants a ring.

How long does a wedding ceremony last? I haven't been to a wedding in a long time, and since I was like 10 the last time I went to one, my memory of how long it took is probably a little off. Now I am a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding and just wondering how long the actual ceremony will be.
Would this outfit be ok to wear to the wedding ceremony? Next weekend we have a wedding to attend. The ceremony is at 1pm in a church. I'd like to wear a skirt (navy w/tan,red and white horizontal stripes on the very bottom) and a red blazer with flip flops. Would this be an ok outfit? I plan on going home after the ceremony and changing into a dress for the 6pm reception. Any suggestions?
Has anyone had a wedding ceremony at the Wynn, Las Vegas? I am planning a small, intimate wedding ceremony at Las Vegas. I have researched a few hotels of my choice and seem to find the Wynn my best option. The cost for the ceremony package is around $2000. I would also like to know if its better to enjoy a dinner after the ceremony or take the guests to the suite and enjoy some appetizers and cake?
Looking for a location for a Wedding Ceremony Only in suffolk county ny? I am looking for a location to only have a ceremony for my wedding. I want to have it on the beach but I would need to put up a tent because I want it in April but every beach wont let me have tents. Any suggestions?
Do you have any idea where to find a priest in Bangkok for a wedding ceremony, please? Hi Guys, We are planning to get hitch in Bangkok on Valentine's day 2009. Is it okay to have a wedding ceremony without a reception? I am a bride to be with a ridiculously large family that is very close. In preparing our guest list, my side so far is 122, and his is only 20!! I've trimmed the list down as much as I could and the lowest i can get to is 107, but we simply cannot afford to feed all of those people. Would it be appropriate just to have a wedding ceremony and invite everyone without hosting a formal reception?
How much time in between the wedding ceremony and the reception? The ceremony and the reception are scheduled in two separate locations (both out doors). The ceremony is at 11am, not sure what time to have the reception. The two locations are approx. 20 mins apart. The style of the wedding is semi casual / outdoor bbq. I know we will need time to take pictures and set up at the grove but I don't want to leave people hanging around with nothing to do. Is it appropriate for the bride and groom to arrive after the guest or should we be there when the guests arrive for the reception. Please help.
What song can I have my sister sing at the ceremony for my wedding? My sister is going to be singing at our non religious wedding ceremony in October. I haven't chosen something for her to sing yet. She's a high alto, low soprano, but if she needed to, she could sing high soprano. What would be a good song for her to sing in our ceremony?
What Hotels in Miami do great a Wedding Ceremony? Where and what hotels in Miami have a great Beach to have a small wedding ceremony? Can a deacon perform a wedding ceremony outside of the church? I'm a catholic and I don't want to get married inside of a church. My husband and I are already married through justice of the peace ( we did it at the courthouse ). I was wondering if I can have a wedding ceremony performed by a deacon at a location other than the church. I really wanna have an outdoors wedding but I'm not sure if it's possible. Am I stuck with a courthouse wedding or can I still have my dream wedding? Can someone please help me?
Any ideas for transitions during a wedding ceremony? I will be having a non-traditional wedding at a museum and we will be having a ceremony on the dance floor before dinner. All of our guests will be seated at their respective dinner tables during the ceremony. After the ceremony, we will eat dinner. Any ideas for something to do as a transition between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of dinner? I dont want it to be a weird transition after the judge presents us as a couple until the point where dinner is served. Thanks. The first dance would be a great idea. We're just worried about the bustle of her dress only allowing her to rock back and forth during the dance.
Wat are some good ideas for a small & private but special wedding ceremony? I want it to just be me and him. Ive been starting to plan a wedding and ive gotten so frustrated and everyone is annoying me to death that ive decided i really just want it to be me and him, and we'll have a party afterwards. So does anyone have any suggestions? And the beach really isnt an option, we live in Jersey and the Jersey shore is a good hour and a half from us, im not looking to travel. But if anyone else has done a small ceremony and can share their experience id appreciate it!
Best jazz trio for small wedding ceremony and reception? I have a choice between
OR for our upcoming wedding in winter. It will be a small wedding of about 50 people. I like them both. It is for both ceremony and reception on the same evening. Can you help me decide which jazz trio to go for? Thanks.
What are good tips for a small wedding ceremony? I'm having both, my side and his side of our immediate family to hang out for a weekend somewhere close to home. Any ideas that would make the ceremony exceptionally nice without a heavy price? Should I wear a formal wedding dress?
How long does a Methodist wedding ceremony typically last? I'm not religious at all so I don't know about anything pertaining to religious ceremonies or services, but how long generally would a Methodist wedding ceremony last? I've heard that Catholic weddings can run very long, but I don't know about Methodist services. It's not a big deal, I'm just curious because I tend to get fidgety when I have to sit some where fora long time (it's just a nervous thing that I try to control but I don't do a very good job of actually controlling).
What are some wedding ceremony ideas- not performed in a church? I am brainstorming ideas of where to have a wedding ceremony. -not in a church, not necessarily outside (because of the worry about rain) but i would take places into consideration, and i have a large guest list (300 or so). I would also like this wedding to take place in Ohio around/near the Findlay, Oh area.
Song for congregation to sing at my wedding ceremony? Can anything think of a great song that could be sung at my wedding ceremony? It needs to be related to love or happiness, be easy for everyone to sing along to (so either most people know it or it is easy to pick up) and not a hymn. Probably something a bit older - not a modern top 40 pop song. Ideas - Here Comes the Sun - Bealtes, Perfect Day - Lou Reed, You Are The Sunshine of my Life - Stevie Wonder >> But these just don't quite fit the bill (but getting close)... Many thanks! (P.S The Vicar is more than happy with this)
Whats the best way to invite people to your wedding ceremony only, not the reception? I have people who i work with that i would really like to come to my wedding, but we are restricted with numbers for the reception. Is it rude to invite them to come to the ceremony only? Should i send them an actual invitation? If so, how do i word it? Please realise that im not trying to be rude! Its just that i have been planning my wedding for about 2 1/2 years and ive only worked with these people for about 6 months. Id really love to be able to invite them to my reception, but it would add like 20 people to the guest list and we cant actually fit that many people inside the reception house! I thought that inviting them to the ceremony at least would be less rude than not inviting them at all!
Do you wear your engagement ring during the wedding ceremony? so i know that the wedding band is supposed to be worn on the inside, before the engagement ring, closest to your knuckles. what i dont know is if during the actual ceremony, do you not wear your engagement and the groom puts both rings on, or does he take off the engagement ring to put the wedding band on first? anyone know?
What is the traditional procedure for the use of Arras (unity coins) in a Philippine wedding ceremony? I am American, and my fiancee is Filipina. We are having a small, semi-formal, close family and friends only wedding ceremony, and we want to include several of the traditional Philippine wedding customs such as the veil, cord, and arras. I pretty much understand how the veil and cord work, but I cannot find anything about what we do with the Arras. We will have an Arras-bearer to bring the coins down the isle, but what do we do with them once they get there?
What to do after a small wedding ceremony/dinner? Due to financial issues my fiance and I have had to cancel our reception and have decided to still keep the wedding at the church. We have planned a dinner for close friends and relatives after the ceremony at a nice resturaunt; I'm wondering now what do he and I do after that? go home? a hotel? we are taking our honeymoon 2 days after, we would like to have some free time to relax and get things together before we leave. Is there anything wrong with going home after? what did you or someone you know do. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks a lot :) Just wanted to add; I live in North Jersey we don't have bed and breakfast's here.
Any advice for a proper wedding ceremony and reception at a hotel? I'm Jewish and he is Unitarian. We've decided after having a civil ceremony at city hall to go for another proper wedding up in Northern Alberta at a hotel we will be working at, maybe. I'd like to rent a banquet hall. My parents will pay for it but I want to be fair to them. Any suggestions?
Are you allowed to have a religious wedding after a civil ceremony? My boyfriend and I are thinking of having a civil wedding ceremony ASAP for insurance reasons. However, we have our heart set on having a regular religious ceremony as well. Will a pastor performing our religious ceremony have a problem if we already have a marriage license? Do we have to tell our guests that we had a quick ceremony? Neither of us will feel truly married until it is in a church under the eyes of God, but the circumstances prevent that at present. We are both teachers in California and both grew up in Michigan, so we want the religious ceremony to be in MI. Also, since we're teachers, we want it to be this summer. So, bottom line, is what we want to do OK? A few more details--we both are incredibly religious and having the religious wedding is important to us. There's just no possible way for a while. We have been dating for 5 years and living together for one and acknowledge that our current situation is not the way God intended it to be. Gifts are not an issue to us at all; we just want a celebration with our family and friends.
What are some interesting/unique ideas for an outside wedding ceremony? Hi, Im getting married in July 2007 and the ceremony will be held outside at a park. Its going to be a very private ceremony with just our immediate family present but we are having a reception following the ceremony with our closest friends and family :)The wedding party is also just family (our siblings, my niece and nephew). So I was wondering if anyone has any interesting or unique ideas that we could add to the ceremony to make it more special.
In a wedding ceremony who walks the groom in? Me and my fiance are in the mist of planning for our wedding that is off in the near future. And we had one question that we do not have an answer to. Who walks the groom in or is he already standing up there when the ceremony starts? And exactly what is the name for the men who is not the best man, and what are their duties?
Whats the best way to transition from a wedding ceremony to reception if they are in the same room? We are marrying in a large mostly glass room with a moderately sized balcony over a lake and we are trying to switch from ceremony seating arrangements (rows of seats) to pulling out tables and using the same chairs at the tables. It is a small wedding, around 50 people and we need to get the people out of the room to rearrange, but dont know how. we are not using complete place settings, its a buffet. (tables are folded up in a closet beforehand).
How would you like to do your wedding ceremony/party ? If I will marry one day I would like to do the ceremony on the beach. With families + a few real friends. I would like that everyone comes without shoes and colourful nice dresses. I would like to put a lot of candle and a lot of colourful flowers all over the beach. I would like to wear a nice white, short sexy dress. And my partner in white too. I would like to serve fresh fish, lobster, conchmeat, shrimps and everything (fresh as well) from the sea. And for the meatlovers some kebab and juicy baby backribs, I mean it have to be like a nice long table on the beach decorated with candles and flowers and fresh tropical fruits. With all these foods on it and fresh vegetables + salads. Another small table for my wedding cake , and chocolates and cookies. For music some nice cocktail music. And to finish put some fireworks at the end of the party. How would you like to do your wedding ceremony/party ?? Express in your own word , how you would like to do it.!!
